For more than twenty years, Christian de Héricourt has been capturing dance much like others capture fleeting moments of life. For him, a gesture is never just a gesture: it’s a spark, an emotion that flares up. For the past three years, he has been present at every performance at the Théâtre Golovine, camera in hand and eye sharply focused, ready to capture moments as they pass in an instant. His photographs capture the magic of the stage: the curve of an arm, a leap taking flight, a face illuminated by light. They extend the performance in a fleeting glance and remind us why dance fascinates us so deeply.
